BIOGRAFIA SINTETICA
Nato a Prato, il 24 Gennaio 1952
Professore Architetto. Dal 2004 è strutturato come Professore Associato di Restauro architettonicocon titolarità di docenza nei Laboratori di Restauro in tutti i corsi di studio del Dipartimento di Architettura e presso la Scuola di Specializzazione in Beni Architettonici e del Paesaggio dell’Università degli studi di Firenze.
È autore di oltre 275 pubblicazioni per lo più dedicate alle tematiche della conservazione e valorizzazione di beni culturali e del paesaggio
Responsabile Scientifico di Ricerca in oltre 30 progetti in ambito pubblico e privato. In oltre 40 anni di attività ha condotto numerosi interventi di restauro su edifici di interesse storico artistico, complessi monumentali, spazi urbani posti in compendi storicizzati.

SUMMARY OF ACADEMIC BIOGRAPHY
Professor of Restoration, holder of first, second and third level Courses of Study at the Architecture Department of University of Florence. He is the author of 275 publications and press notes in the fields of conservation of cultural heritage and restoration, (works of art, monuments, historical centres and landscapes), also archaeology and architectural history and architectural diagnostics. Scientific head of research of more than 30 projects in the public and private sectors. He has designed many restoration interventions on buildings of historical and artistic interest, monumental complexes and urban space located in historicized urban compendia in over 40 years of activity.
ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL RECORD
Summary of professional work:
The writer carries out professional and research activities about design, urban and architectural restoration and diagnostics, cataloguing and cartographic activities for cultural heritage and landscape.
Since the year 1978, he cooperates with some important national cultural and scientific Institutions, Universities and Public Body.
He performs a didactic activity by research collaborations and contract teaching, since 1996, mainly with the “Dipartimento di Restauro e Conservazione dei Beni Architettonici (DIRES) – Università degli Studi di Firenze”.
Authors of 230 and more publications, he edits tests and monographic studies on the restoration and the techniques of the wall paintings and territorial historical researches on the urban, rural and natural environment. In particular, he has collaborated with the S.B.A.A.A.S. of Arezzo for the realization of the historical researches and preliminary surveyings of the "Progetto Piero della Francesca" for the restoration of some frescoes, like the "Leggenda della Vera Croce" (Basilica di S. Francesco, Arezzo), the “Madonna del Parto (Monterchi) and the “S. Ludovico” (Museo Civico di Sansepolcro). In such field it has devised and coordinated, uninterruptedly from 1999 to 2000, the activities of the "Sistema Documentazione Archivio" for the management of the data with the help information instruments for supporting restoration. Between professional works: in 1991 he’s charged of the plan of “Sistemazione del Museo Civico di Sansepolcro”, that it’s realized in 1997; in 1996 he takes care of the organization of the "Madonna del Parto" fresco in Monterchi. He’s an effective member of public commission in the matters of his specific competence (omissis). He’s also an editor of numerous documentary exhibitions and editorial-multimedia projects. From 1994 he’s responsible of a publishing collections of notebooks for the conservation and the valorization of the cultural heritage, for the types of Lalli Ed., Poggibonsi (SI). From 1994 he directs the "Laboratorio per affresco E. e L. Tintori" of Prato, (school of improvement for the techniques of the wall painting and the pictorial decoration), where he carries out research and professional activities in the field of the techniques and the conservation of wall paintings. In 1998 he is charged of the study for the “Piano del Colore” of Prato and its successive management (to leave from 1999); from 2001 to 2005 he is an adviser of the Cultural Amm. of Prato for the recovery of the historical center and the environmental and cultural emergencies. In such field he writes up the “Piano di Decoro Urbano”, he coordinates and plans the organization of central squares and public areas, the urbanistic study for the valorization of the ancient wall of the city, the landscape organization of the “Parco archeologico della Città Etrusca sul Bisenzio” (Gonfienti), and, finally, the studies for the recovery of the architectonic handmades in the “Parco Mediceo delle Cascine di Tavola”. In the two years 2002/2004, he is an adviser of the Amministrazione Comunale of Florence for the writing of the Piano Strutturale of the city, relatively to the issues of the requalification and safeguard of the historical center. In 2003 it plans the architectonic restoration of the monumental complex of the Rocca Strozzi, in Campi Bisenzio.
Since the year 2004 he is an associate university professor (ICAR 19) at the Dipartimento di Restauro e Conservazione dei Beni Architettonici DIDA - School of Architecture- Florence.

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES IN UNIVERSITY FIELD :
Since the year 2005, he is responsible of the University Scientific Research "Technologies and conservation of the pittorici apparatuses in the historical building", which is followed in 2006 by the project: "Carta Colori del Centro Storico di Firenze: Quartiere San Lorenzo". For this research he is the scientific responsible of convention between Akzo Nobel Coatings Spa and DIRES (Contract stipulated in the 27th February 2006, renewed for year 2007). In 2006 he is the scientific responsible of convention between Ente Parco Nazionale delle Cinque Terre and DIRES, now DIDA, for the "Progetto Colore delle 5 Terre. Restauro del paesaggio antropico dell’edilizia storica: il recupero delle Marine e dei manufatti di impatto ambientale nell’ambito visivo dei centri storici di Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza e Riomaggiore". This activity is sponsored by Regione Liguria, carried out in collaboration with the University of Genoa - Dipartimento DSA (School of Architecture) and an external adviser, Jorrit Tornquist (Art & Colorprojet.com).
- From 2010 at 2013, he is responsible of the University Scientific Research: “Progetto di rigenerazione dei centri storici del cratere aquilano colpiti dal sisma del 6 Aprile 2009”.
- From 2012 to 2014, he is responsible of the University Scientific Researcho "Impiego della tecnologia XLAM nel restauro postsismico dell’edilizia".
- From 2011 to 2013, he is responsible of the University Scientific Research for studies in conservation and restauration for Centro Storico di Firenze .

- The 2014 he is responsible of the Scientific Research of “Progetto HE-CO (HEritage COlors). Open Data delle architetture per il Centro storico di Firenze - Legge 77/2006)”, progetto finanziato dal MiBACT for UNESCO World Heritage site – Historic Centre of Florence (“Contract stipulated between Municipality of Florence Firenze (UNESCO Office florence) e University of Florence, DIDA), in the context of DIDA "City_lab" for the Heritage Impact Assessments which were provided by ICOMOS.
The objectives of the studies carried out by the research group of the University of Florence as part of the project “Heritage Colours” (HECO), have included the conservation and enhancement of the integrity regarding the landscape and architectural heritage of the UNESCO World Heritage site – The Historic Centre of Florence. The HECO Project is based on the critical study of the urban landscape and the existing historical construction through a systematic and detailed reading of the colour of the facades, particularly with regard to the introspection on the surfaces of the buildings of architectural interest (ex Legislative Decree 42 / 2004). It is also based on the urban serial aggregates, and the data revealed information related to: 1) evolutionary and typological historical characters, 2) material and constructive characterisation, 3) geometry and size; 4) state of conservation; 5) visual impairment; 6) salvageability; 7) morphological vulnerability for seismic purposes.
